Following Pahoehoe and Petroglyphs to the Newborn Sea

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has a magnificent drive called the Chain of Craters that starts on the rim of Kilauea Crater at 3980' elevation and falls steeply across recent lava flows to a new shoreline of lava cliffs. Along the way is the trail to the Pu'u Loa petroglyhs where one gets a very personal connection with the ancient Hawaiians through their artwork in the rocks.
Enjoy the photographs.
