Sky Trail to the Sea at Point Reyes National Seashore
After wildfire smoke in the Yosemite Creek basin forced the cancellation of our three-day backpack there in early August, David Witt and I returned to my Sacramento area home and the next day we set off for the cool coast with my wife. She dropped us off at Point Reyes National Seashore's Sky Trailhead and we planned on a through hike to Limantour Beach via the Woodward Valley Trail. The cool overcast day was a balm for all of our souls as was the beauty of silent Douglas fir forests and panoramic coastal views seen from on high as we descended to the beach. We spotted an osprey carrying a fish to its nest. Enjoy these photos of our coastal saunter.
